Ten people in CNMI indicted on drugs and firearms charges

The United States Attorney for Guam and the Northern Marianas says a federal grand jury has indicted ten people in Saipan on methamphetamine and firearms charges.

Those charged include police.

"Alicia Limtiaco says nine people were arrested in Saipan and one in Washington state on Wednesday last week and indicted two days later. She says the arrests came after a two-year investigation by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces involving both federal agents and local law enforcement officers. The Saipan Tribune reports a former police captain who was fined and jailed for theft 10 years ago was among the group. The paper also reports other defendants include a former Corrections officers, a former Commonwealth probation officer and his wife, a Division of Youth Services counsellor and Customs officers. The defendants have been remanded in custody."
