3:03 pm on 10 September 2012

The Ulu o Tokelau, Aliki Faipule Kerisiano Kalolo, has been installed as the new Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific.

He takes over from the Governor General of Solomon Islands, Sir Frank Kabui.

PACNEWS quotes the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rajesh Chandra, saying the new appointment demonstrates the regional character of the University and its importance to all its member countries, large and small.

He says Tokelau is the smallest member of the USP but is a valuable part of the university's family.

The new Chancellor has already undertaken his first duty - conferring certificates, diplomas and degrees to 802 students at a graduation ceremony in Suva last week.
