Some lawmakers in American Samoa are querying the need for the government to have an office in Hawai'i.
According to the government's new budget proposal, the Amerika Samoa Office in Honolulu, costs nearly 350 thousand US dollars and is staffed by 4 people.
The lawmakers says this is a huge amount of money that could be better spent in the territory.
But the governor's chief of staff, Pati Faiai, says Honolulu rent is high, as is electricity and other expenses.
He says the office is utilised by government officials when they pass through Honolulu and it assists American Samoans in Hawai'i seeking information.
