Fiji's Paralympic gold medalist Illiesa Delana is being welcomed back to the country with a series of celebrations to honour his success in London.

Delana last week became the first Pacific athlete to win an Olympic or Paralympic gold medal with his success in the men's high jump.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Olympic Committee, Lorraine Mar, says in addition to two receptions for Delana at airports today, more celebrations will held, including a parade organised by the interim government for Thursday morning

"They have organised a national celebration which involves Illiesa having a ticker tape parade through Suva and then being taken to the Vodafone arena where traditional Fijian ceremonies of welcome will be held for Illiesa."

Lorraine Mar says the Fiji Olympic Committee is also planning to hold a reunion for all Olympians and Paralympians within the next two weeks.
