Fiji says its exclusion from PACP meetings will hinder Forum's key objective

Fiji says its continued exclusion from Pacific meetings of the African Caribbean and Pacific group of nations will hinder the Pacific Islands Forum's objective of regional integration, an important pillar in the Pacific Plan.

PACNEWS reports Fiji saying that if the Suva-based Forum Secretariat continues to deny Fiji's participation, it will be forced to withdraw from PACP meetings.

Fiji also says it will consider withdrawing from the Pacific Island Countries Trade Agreement, PICTA, in the same way it did for PACER Plus trade talks, if it is not allowed to participate fully at the highest level at the PACP meetings and activities.

It says in addition, that Fiji will not be able to sign the PICTA Trade In Services Protocol or conclude the comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union.
