A Samoan policewoman has been forced to leave a domestic violence workshop she was attending in Fiji this week after local police began an investigation involving her.

Samoa's assistant police commissioner, Leaupepe Fatu Pula, says the officer returned home on Tuesday, one day after the workshop started.

The assistant commissioner says no additional information will be released until an investigation is completed.

The officer is attached to the Ministry of Police and Prisons' domestic violence division and she has previously undergone training in Britain.
