Vanuatu coach Peter Wooden says the country's triumph in the final fo World Cricket League 8 is a fitting reward for a stellar couple of months.
The Melanesians beat Ghana by 39 runs in Saturday's final in Apia to cap an unbeaten tournament, which also saw them earn promotion to cricket league 7.
Wooden says it's been a week to remember but admits the focus will quickly turn to their next challenge.
"The boys have worked extremely hard the last couple of months and I think they deserve it. We've won eight from eight now, being here, and just the passion and resilience they showed in every game I'm very proud of them. We've got a Twenty20 World Cup qualifier to prepare for now so we start the new league up in three weeks - the super series. We're also going to focus on the Under 19s to try and develop them to get a few more Under 19s in this squad as well. We've got a couple of good players like Nalin and a few others running around and we'd like to get a few more in this team too."
Vanuatu all-rounder Nalin Nipiko was named as the Player of the Tournament, with fellow East Asia Pacific reps Japan and Samoa finishing third and sixth respectively.
