Sport: Vanuatu in limbo ahead of tournament announcement

Vanuatu cricket coach Peter Wooden says an impending shake-up to international competitions means his side is in a state of limbo.

Vanuatu won the Cricket League 8 tournament at the weekend to earn promotion to Division 7.

Peter Wooden says, with both levels set to disappear in an ICC revamp, the team is playing a waiting game ahead of what could be the last ever Division 7 tournament.

"In November the ICC will meet to determine when that tournament will be and where it will be. it's looking like it may be in Ghana. We're not quite sure what time of year that might be - it could be as early as June, it could be as late as September - we just don't know. It does cause a few issues with our domestic cricket because it means we have to move things around a bit to ensure the boys are best prepared. I'm a big believer and advocate that you need to be sure your domestic competition is as strong as possible before heading to these tournaments."
