Sport: Pacific Islands to host more top level rugby

Pacific Island countries are in line for more high profile visits from top Northern Hemisphere rugby nations.

The IRB released it's November tour schedule earlier this month, which included matches between Fiji and England at Twickenham, Tonga and Scotland in Aberdeen, while Samoa will play tests in France and Wales.

The IRB's Regional General Manager for Oceania, Will Glenwright, says while the major Northern Hemisphere teams haven't reciprocated those visits in the past, that will change.

"The schedule over the next seven years will see more tier one unions travelling and touring the Pacific Islands. We've got other high performance unions around the world. I think it's Wales touring Japan next year and Ireland touring USA and Canada and I think the year after, off the top of my head, it's Italy heading back down to the Pacific Islands. There is a schedule that's been agreed by all the unions over the next seven years and that will see Northern Hemisphere Unions touring the Pacific Islands."
