Solomon Islands striker Benjamin Totori says he hopes more Pacific Islands players have the chance to prove themselves in the A-League in future.

Totori is set to make his A-League debut when his Wellington Phoenix side host Sydney FC on Saturday.

Totori has spent a long apprenticeship in the New Zealand domestic league, as well as stints in the US and with Solomons club Koloale.

He will be the second Solomons player to play in the A-League, after national captain Henry Fa'arodo and says others are capable of stepping up to the mark.

"There are heaps of players but the opportunity - the training as well - back in the islands, they're not as standard, so pretty much in the future I would love to see more Solomon Islanders."
