A motion for a vote of no confidence in the government of Lord Tu'ivakano which the Tonga opposition has been pushing for more than three months is back on the table.
The Democratic Party wants the government of Lord Tu'ivakano to step down and deliberations resumed this morning.
The opposition leader Akilisi Pohiva says the motion will continue to be discussed during this afternoon's session and says a vote could take place this afternoon or tomorrow.
Mr Pohiva says while the opposition doesn't have the numbers as it stands, they hope the members will do what is right.
"There's a chance, an opportunity for the members to think seriously about the motion and our hope is for the members, especially representatives of the people who are in cabinet to seriously consider the importance of the resolution and the need of the general public."
Akilisi Pohiva claims the government has lost the backing of the people.
