Sport: Bonitos keen to put pressure back on group leaders

Solomon Islands are hoping to ramp up the pressure on group leaders New Zealand with a big win in the latest round of Oceania Football World Cup qualifying.

The Bonitos were thrashed 6-1 by the All Whites last month but can draw level at the top of the group standings with victory over New Caledonia in Honiara on Friday.

Coach Jacob Moli says if they can achieve that, the onus goes back on New Zealand to get a result in Papeete tomorrow in a match where they will be without Premier League defenders Ryan Nelsen and Winston Reid.

"Yeah that's what we are hoping for at the moment but we can't rely on other results to help us. We just have to get a result first and then we will sit back and watch what's going to happen with the other. All these French teams, they are very very organised teams so we just have to be at our best, we have to make sure we do the right things to get a positive result."
