Sport: New Caledonia thrashes Solomons Islands at home

New Caledonia has thrashed the Solomon Islands 6-2 in their Oceania World Cup qualifying match at Honiara's Lawson Tama Stadium.

France-based striker Georges Gopes-Fenepej scored four times including a second-half hat-trick, as New Caledonia posted its second win from three matches in the third stage qualifier.

New Zealand leads the four-team qualifying tournament with two wins, over New Caledonia and the Solomon Islands and plays Tahiti on Saturday night in Papeete.
