Marshalls strikes telco deal with Kiribati

The National Telecommunications Authority in the Marshall Islands has signed a deal that will help Kiribati communicate with the outside world.

The deal will mean that the NTA will allow Kiribati internet access from a fibre-optic cable and satellite owned by the Majuro-based telecommunications company.

This is the second agreement for the company after a similar contract was signed earlier this year with Solomon Islands Bemobile, that saw Satellite services expanded to the Solomons.

The General Manager of the NTA Tommy Kijiner junior says he hopes these deals will help the company get contracts with other nations such as Nauru and Tuvalu to create extra revenue.
