It wasn't quite the ending they were after but Cook Islands netball coach Mii Maui says there's still a wealth of positives to take from the just completed netball tri-series in Rarotonga.
The home side were thumped 71-20 by Wales, on Tuesday local time, in the final game of the tournament, to finish with a one win, three loss record over the past week.
Mii Maui says, after their breakthrough win over Scotland a day earlier, the Wales match was a bridge too far.
"Given the team that we have, I believe another tough international game, one after the other, isn't appropriate for our team at this stage. The whole series itself has been positive for us - we've seen some really good improvement in our defence lineup. I think they played really well and it did highlight that our attacking end needed to punch through a lot more to get the ball in. Overally, I'm quite happy with our performance because we did get the turnovers, we were just not able to finish it off."
