Sport: Cook Islands netballers keen for more

The Cook Islands netball coach Mii Maui is optimistic that the Pacific can become a regular stopover for teams from the Northern Hemisphere.

Rarotonga played host to the Welsh and Scottish teams last week for the inaugural international tri-series tournament.

The Scotland coach Denise Holland is keen for her team to travel down under more often and Mii Maui says any opportunity to play more matches at international level is a positive.

"Playing this kind of level of netball - if it's going to be an annual thing - would be so good for the Cooks. The outcome of this series has highlighted that we need to ensure that our planning is right from the start. Looking at the young ones that stepped up in the game against Scotland, also basically we're saying to ourselves we've got to make sure the pathways are correct for these girls to keep building up."
