There are plans in Solomon Islands' to develop Doma in the west of Guadalcanal province into a tourism hub.

The deputy premier of the province Roland Seleso made the announcement at the weekend.

The Solomon Star reports Mr Seleso saying by next year Doma will be turned into a tourism centre.

Doma was recently used during the festival of Pacific arts and most of the facilities remain, which prompted the province to utilise them to promote tourism.
