CNMI hospital to get federal support

The embattled Commonwealth Health Corporation on the Northern Marianas is to get close to one million US dollars in federal government funding to help the endebted hospital.

United States Assistant Interior Secretary Tony Babauta is visiting Saipan and announced his support for the corporation after a closed door meeting with officials and hospital staff.

The administration of Governor Benigno Fitial earlier disclosed plans to hire a new management team of experts to run the hospital.

But Mr Babauta expressed his support for current management team who will instead get to keep their jobs.

He also commended hospital staff for their patience and dedication throughout the challenges they face.
