The Cook Islands rugby league international Dominique Peyroux says he does harbour dreams of representing New Zealand in the future but says he's still enjoying his time with the Pacific side.

The 23-year-old, who was born in Auckland and has Cook Islands, Solomon Islands, Samoan and French heritage, has just signed a two year deal with the New Zealand Warriors.

He spent the past two seasons with the Gold Coast Titans but says the chance to spend more time his his preferred centre position has lured him home.

Peyroux made his Cook Islands debut in 2009 and says the prospect of playing at next year's Rugby League World Cup is exciting, although he admits the lure of the black jersey is strong.

"That's one of my long-term goals. I'm sure it is for every other Cook Islander that was brought up there in Aotearoa but in the meantime I'm concentrating on playing for the Cookies and doing well for the Warriors in pre season and the season next year."
