The French Polynesian corruption probe that has led to the jailing of a top union leader has been widened.
A top businessman, Bill Ravel, has now also been transferred to Tahiti's Nuutania prison as the investigation into alleged corruption is incomplete.
Tahiti media report that Mr Ravel, who is based in New Caledonia, was detained for questioning last week when he arrived on a flight from New Zealand.
Mr Ravel was known in Tahiti for running the King Tamatoa fast ferry which suddenly abandoned operations two years ago.
The media reports say he is being investigated for dealings between 2008 and 2012.
The ferry operator's former Tahiti agent, Gaston Tetuanui, was jailed with the unionist, Cyril Legayic, last week.
