Fiji's regime leader Commodore Frank Bainimarama has told Fiji media the country's reappointed president will remain in office until November 2015.
Ratu Epeli Nailatikau was sworn in yesterday for a second term of office after his appointment by the regime three years ago.
The new term takes the president beyond the date for the 2014 elections which are yet to be defined as the country continues discussions on a new constitution.
The Editor of Fiji Communications Limited Vijay Narayan says Commodore Bainimarama has revealed that there will be no change to the process of filling the presidential seat until after the incumbent finishes his term.
"It was specifically in relation to the president because the prime minister made it clear that we need a president like Ratu Epeli Nailatikau who he says is a people's president, a man of the people, understanding what Fiji has gone through."
Vijay Narayan says people have expressed a wide range of views to the Constitution Commission on the office of president.
