The French Embassy in Fiji says a new exchange agreement between the Fiji National University and a tertiary institute in French Polynesia will strengthen reciprocity and build the capacity of teachers.
The Fiji National University has signed a deal with the Tahiti Tourism Institute that will enable cooking teachers and academics from both countries to conduct exchanges.
A spokesman for the French Embassy in Suva, Denis Decraene, says the Embassy is helping fund the initiative and expects it to be a boost for academics from the Fiji National University.
"It's a special memorandum to support in particular, the reciprocity, to strengthen the capacity of the teachers from the University of FNU, at first that's a priority as a request from FNU."
Denis Decraene says the French Embassy will provide about 30,000 US dollars in the first year of the exchange agreement.
