Vanuatu man to be sentenced for assault of deputy principal

A Vanuatu man charged with assaulting the Malapoa college deputy principal, Willie Sandy, is to be sentenced next week after he was found guilty in the Supreme Court.

Brian Michel, who is from Tanna but lived on Efate, was found guilty on one count of intentional assault

The Chief Justice Vincent Lunabek says the accused himself told the court he kicked and punched Mr Sandy who was walking some of his female students home after school last April.

Mr Lunabek said the injuries sustained by Mr Sandy have affected his job, causing great pain for six months.
