PNG police, the military and prisons get boost in budget

Police, the military and prisons service have all received substantial increases in the Papua New Guinea government's budget for 2013.

The additional money for 400 recruits for both the defence force and police in 2013 and 150 new staff at Correctional Services.

The Post Courier reports that police gets 80 million US dollars for staffing and another 28 million for modernising.

The Defence Force gets about 50 million for staffing issues and a substantial allocation for the relocation of the Murray Barracks and Landing Craft Base.
