American Samoa has new Governor and Lieutenant Governor

American Samoa has elected a new Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

Lolo Matalasi Moliga and Lemanu Peleti Mauga have topped the polls winning yesterdays run-off election by more than 700 votes.

The Lolo and Lemanu team garnered 6,645 or 52% while rivals Faoa Aitofele Sunia and Taufete'e John Faumuina received 5,908 or 47.1%.

Lolo and Lemanu led in nearly all of the voting districts on Tutuila, Aunuu and Manu'a.

Their victory brings an end to 16 years of the Tauese Togiola and Togiola Faoa administrations.

Lolo is a former Senate President and most recently was President of the Development Bank of American Samoa.

Lemanu is a first term senator and is a retired Army Major.
