Police in Tonga are investigating attempts to use a credit card in the name of a man found dead on a yacht on a remote island in Vava'u.

The badly decomposed body of 35 year old Slovakian Milan Rindzak was found last month on board the JeReve which had run aground on an uninhabited atoll.

Police also found a huge quantity of cocaine hidden on the vessel.

They believe the drugs were being transported from South America to Australia.

Tonga police say enquiries are continuing into the use of the credit card at a Vava'u bank.

They say they are following strong leads and do not anticipate the offender was a passenger on the yacht.
