Hawaiian Airlines adds new Taipei to Honolulu route

Hawaiian Airlines is adding another new route, a three days a week service between the Taiwanese capital Taipei and Honolulu.
Hawaiian will become the only airline offering non-stop service between Taiwan and Honolulu when it begins flying in July.
The new service coincides with the start of the U.S. Visa Waiver Program which allows Taiwanese visitors to enter without visas to the United States..
The announcement comes just days after it began direct flights from Honolulu to Brisbane.
Taiwan brought 8,186 visitors to Hawaii last year, and even without the visa waiver, the Hawaii Tourism Authority earlier this year projected that number to grow to 10,642 by the end of 2012.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority plans to spend a portion of a 2 million dollar marketing fund to increase travel from Taiwan to Hawaii.
