Afoa Su'esu'e Lutu has been named by American Samoa's governor elect Lolo Matalasi Moliga as the new attorney general.
It is the first cabinet lineup announcement made by the incoming leader.
Lolo says the only two positions that he and his deputy decided to select by themselves and not advertise were those of attorney general and secretary of Samoan Affairs.
He says Afoa is someone fully versed in the problems facing the government.
He is a former attorney general and has run in the gubernatorial race five times.
