Papua New Guinea's Chamber of Mines and Petroleum says last week's PNG Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference in Sydney reflected the huge interest in investment in PNG.
1,400 delegates attended the conference, including some of the world's biggest mining and energy companies.
PNG's Prime Minister Peter O'Neill addressed the conference.
And various companies shared their current experiences in PNG with the finance and investment sectors.
The chamber's executive director, Greg Anderson, says delegates took stock of unprecedented exploration across PNG over the past two years.
"'There are signs that it's getting a bit difficult to raise finance for certain companies, certainly in the junior sectors, but generally speaking there was a very bullish response (from investors). There's a record number of companies, a record number of tenements, there's a number of projects in advanced stages and new ones emerging that are of great interest and which could be the projects further along."
