Ten thousand Vanuatu farmers are to get assistance as the country improves its ability to cope with natural disasters.
The project is supported by the European Union and the World Bank through the Global Environment Facility with just over five and a half million US dollars.
The EU's Charge d'Affaires in Vanuatu, Robert De Raeve, says climate change is likely to affect every sector in Vanuatu but agriculture is particularly susceptible.
He says the assistance will ensure communities that rely on agriculture become as resilient as possible to the effects of climate change and natural disasters.
"So there will be projects in water supply, rural roads, renewable energy and a lot of what exactly will have to be done or will de done during the project implementation will be decided once the project starts. So it is mainly adaptation to climat change, assisting the Department of Meteorology."
