American Samoa braces for Evan tomorrow

American Samoa is preparing for the worst as Tropical Cyclone Evan approaches.

If it continues on its forecasted track, it will come within 16 kilometres of Tutuila by tomorrow morning.

He's local meteorologist Carol Maafala Bacqui.

"Tomorrow we are looking at winds in the morning of hurricane force strength, anything from 75 to 95 miles an hour, gusting up to 120, and it will definitely increase up 85 to 110 which is closing in on a category two hurricane, so with gusts up to 130 miles per hour before Thursday noon."
