Sunday shopping in Fiji's Nadi to make up for closures caused by cyclone

The head of Nadi's Chamber of Commerce in Fiji says the town will have an extra day's trading on Sunday in an effort to make up for three business days lost because of Cyclone Evan.

Dr Ram Raju says the Chamber met the Nadi Town Council yesterday to focus on the restoration of power so the town can operate as normally as possible.

He says he hopes businesses and shoppers will take advantage of the opportunity to shop for the festive season on a day which would normally only see supermarkets open.

"We have just got the permission to have another day which is a Sunday and this has been approved. So I believe the business houses and members of the public can take advantage of the various discounts that will be offered on Sunday."

Dr Raju says he's advertised widely and hopes people from neighbouring towns will come to Nadi on Sunday.
