Charges in Fiji over theft of new currency notes

Five people in Fiji have been charged over the theft of 500 new 100 Fiji dollar bills.

According to Fiji media, four men have been charged with receiving stolen property and a woman has been charged with giving false information.

The new look currency notes, which are yet to be put into circulation, were stolen two weeks ago when they were being transported to the ANZ Bank from the Reserve Bank vault.

Most of the money has been recovered.

The money was circulated around the country and some bills were recovered from as far as Koro Island and Taveuni.
