Disaster Management teams in Samoa have started distributing additional assistance to families who have been in government shelters following tropical cyclone Evan.
Temporary shelters will be closed from mid-day Saturday and families, whose homes have been completely destroyed or sustained major damage, have been given tents, tarpaulins, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, blankets and tool kits.
The Disaster Management office says food and water relief is still continuing.
Meanwhile, families sheltering at Seventh-Day Adventist Church facilities in Lalovaea and Magiagi have also been given starter kits by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency.
And the Samoa Red Cross is continuing its distribution of water, tarpaulins, blankets, hurricane lanterns, mosquito nets and other supplies families need.
The Samoa Red Cross is servicing 370 households in villages around the Apia area.
