Solomon Star fends off threats over Friday article

Updated at 5:12 pm on 7 January 2013

The Solomon Star newspaper says police dispersed a large group of men outside its premises in Honiara who had been demanding money because they disliked an article.

The paper says it was the second group on the same day to ask for compensation over last Friday's article about an alleged affair of the prime minister, Gordon Darcy Lilo.

The first group seeking money claimed to be relatives of the woman in question, while the second group said it had been sent by Mr Lilo's wife.

No compensation has been paid, with the groups being advised that they are free to sue the paper.
