Hawaiian Air reschedules flight from American Samoa after problems with stairway

9:12 am on 9 January 2013

A Hawaiian Air flight from American Samoa last night was rescheduled after problems with a covered stairway.

The flight was set to leave at 11:30pm and passengers had boarded on time for departure.

However after sitting on the aircraft for about four hours they were told to deplane.

The reason given by the airline is because the covered stairway could not be dislodged from the plane.

When the stairway was finally removed, a light indicator on the aircraft said the door was not fully closed.

Hawaiian Air says the flight will now be leaving at 1:30 this afternoon.
