Sport: EAP cricketers finish with record win tally

11:07 am on 15 January 2013

Papua New Guinea's Tony Ura starred with both bat and ball as the East Asia Pacific cricketers beat Northern Territory by eight wickets in their final match at the Australian Country Championships, to finish with a best-ever four win record at the tournament.

Ura was the chief destroyer with the ball, snaring 6 for 21, as Northern Territory were all out for 215.

In reply, Ura smashed 126 not out from 91 deliveries and along with countryman Chris Kent, who was 64 not out, helped guide the EAP team to their victory target with 100 balls to spare.

Other results on Monday meant the EAP team remained in fourth place overall, while Assad Vala finished as the tournament's second highest run scorer.
