Fiji military again criticises Constitution Commission

6:45 pm on 16 January 2013

The Fiji military has again criticised the Constitution Commission whose draft the regime dumped last week.

The Land Force Commander Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga has told FBC News that the Commission had ignored the voice of the people.

He also says the Commission included in the draft laws that should only be decided by the government in power when the constitution is implemented.

The draft constitution completed last month was welcomed by all the parties in the elected parliament shut down in the 2006 coup.

The draft was based on 7,000 submissions in what was the biggest stock-take of people's concerns and aspirations in years.
