The Samoa Women's Rugby Union has received a donation of sports equipment and uniforms from the German Embassy in Wellington of $11,665.34 Tala.

The German Honorary Consul of Samoa Arne Schreiber hoped the gift would help by positively reinforcing women's rugby teams locally, and helping women's rugby gain acceptance as a sport in Samoa.

In April , Samoa's Manusina team will be competing in the European Qualifiers in Madrid for one of two spots to qualify for the Women's World Cup in 2014.

The head coach, former Manu Samoa captain Peter Fatialofa. says the Manusina team is in a similar position to where Manu Samoa was in 1990.

He says the team has potential but needs more generous support to make the World Cup a reality.
