11:21 am on 23 January 2013

Tropical Cyclone Garry continues to move away from American Samoa, prompting the cancellation of a wind advisory for the main island of Tutuila

The storm warning for the Manu'a island group has also been downgraded to a gale wind warning.

Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pago Pago, Mase Akapo Akapo, says he expects that warning to be cancelled later this afternoon

He adds as the storm continues to move further east-ward, he expects all warnings and advisories that were in place for Tutuila and Aunu'u to be cancelled.

However, he says high surf warnings remains for Manu'a, due to high winds from the storm.
