More dolphins killed in Solomon Islands

Reports from Solomon Islands say another 300 dolphins have been killed on Malaita.

According to the Solomon Star the hunting community of Fanalei slaughtered the animals, including 240 calves, yesterday morning.

This comes after a financial dispute with the California-based NGO Earth Island Institute led to 700 dolphins being slaughtered.

Reports suggested the Fanalei people in South Malaita resorted to hunting because they were not paid the promised money.

However, the Institute says they have paid, and even promised more and blames the killings on a group of local renegades.

The institute claims most Fanalei are furious at what has happened.
