Fiji's attorney-general says his and Commodore Frank Bainimarama's salaries will be made public in a few months.
Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has revealed this to the FBC after earlier saying they were not obliged to disclose them because they were not public officials.
The secrecy surrounding their taxpayer-funded salaries prompted repeated calls by political parties and unions for accountability.
They also claimed that the two top regime leaders had their pays handled by a company run by Mr Sayed-Khaiyum's aunt.
He denied that and said ministerial salaries were managed by the finance ministry.
The ministry is run by Commodore Bainimarama who holds several portfolios.
Government accounts have not been published for several years.
