A business leader in Lautoka says people are struggling to find money after Cyclone Evan struck Fiji's Western division over a month ago.
The immediate past President of the Fiji Chamber of Commerce, Swani Maharaj, says the cyclone wiped out most of the crops in the Western Division, which means people have nothing to sell at the market.
"A lot of people have lost money from their crops like vegetables and all that and it will take about three months before you can have that thing back and be able to sell them in the markets, so there is no money coming from that."
Swani Maharaj also says with people having to pay for damage to their properties, any disposable income they once had has now diminished, which in turn is hurting businesses around Lautoka.
He says if it weren't for assistance from the interim government and a number of NGOs, people wouldn't be able to afford to send their children to school.
