Tonga coach's Eddie Waqa says his team has a lot of hard work ahead of them after a day to forget at the Wellington Sevens.

The Kingdom went winless in Pool matches against Argentina, France and Kenya.

They will now face Canada in the Bowl quarter finals this afternoon.

Eddie Waqa says he had high hopes for a strong showing in Wellington but the couldn't match the intensity of their opponents.

"Just the pace of the game, there's a lot of things and factors that affected our game today. First just the inconsistencies across the focus on the game. I think we came out in the first game and we were really there, and then lost it again on the second game. It was just a basic mistake that cost us all the things that could not function this afternoon."

Eddie Waqa says while they're out of the main competition there is still plenty to play for today as they continue their build-up to the Hong Kong tournament and Sevens World Cup in Moscow.
