Tropical Cyclone Haley is now southsouthwest of Tubuai in French Polynesia and is moving southeast.
The category one cyclone has winds of up to 65 kilometres an hour at its centre.
It is forecast to be about 230 kilometres southsoutheast of Tubuai by early tomorrow morning.
