American Samoa lawmakers want meeting on Employees Retirement Fund

Seven lawmakers in American Samoa have requested the American Samoa Government Employees Retirement Fund Board of Trustees to conduct a meeting of the fund.

The call was made through a non-binding House resolution introduced last week, two days before the Fono took a mid session recess for three weeks.

During the recess the Retirement Fund board will meet for a biennial meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii with about 20 lawmakers who have been invited to attend.

Air fares and per diems for the lawmakers from both the Senate and House of Representatives, including the Fono leaders are paid by the Retirement Fund.

According to a resolution, retirement members have been ill-informed about any losses suffered in past years.
