Fiji eyes labour mobility scheme with Japan

7:31 pm on 18 February 2013

Fiji wants to send nurses, teachers, accountants and skilled construction workers to Japan for work.

Fiji Live reports that Fiji's Ambassador to Japan, Isikeli Mataitoga, raised the matter at the weekend during meetings with Japanese politicians.

He says this would be possible if current aid programmes could be amended to allow for improved technical training.

Mr Mataitoga also sought improved access for manufactured goods from Fiji.
