Samoa approves five year contract for bulk fuel supply

11:29 am on 25 February 2013

Samoa's cabinet has renewed Exxon Mobil's contract to supply its bulk fuel for the next five years.

The contract is for the bulk supply of the country's fuel up to the Matautu-tai wharf.

The local distribution is with a local company.

A Cabinet press statement says the tender was advertised for public interest and two companies submitted bids.

The bulk fuels supply arrangement was an effort to stabilise the price of petroleum products for Samoa in the face of changing world market prices.

Talamua online reports that Samoa's fuel supply arrangement has been studied by various countries as it has resulted in lower prices compared to those in most neighouring Pacific island countries.
