Over 130 farmers from across Samoa have received about 65 thousand US dollars worth of dividends from the government.

The farmers belong to the government's stimulus package programme which is administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to revive the coconut, cocoa and coffee industry.

On Friday the government rewarded the participants with bonuses of up to 550 dollars for their hard work.

The Minister of Agriculture, Le Mamea Ropati Mualia says the stimulus package was set up by in June 2010 as an incentive for farmers to plant traditional crops and boost the economy which has been affected by the global economic crisis.
