American Samoa Governor submits bill to ammend immigration laws

9:39 pm on 5 March 2013

The Governor of American Samoa, Lolo Matalasi Moliga, has submitted a bill to the legislature that will amend the territory's Immigration laws.

The bill seeks to increase from 5 to 9, the number of members on the Immigration Board, which processes all applications for residency in the territory.

The Governor says a larger board will increase its diversity and experience and allow broader public participation in the territory's affairs.

The amendment bill will need to pass the legislature before it can be passed into law.
